Abadeh rugs are produced in a town of the same name in central Iran. The town is situated between Isfahan, which is known for its extremely ornate designs, and Shiraz, which is a trading centre for Tribal rugs. The influence these two rug weaving centres have had on the weavers in Abadeh is evident in the designs. The design most commonly weaved into rugs from Abadeh often feature a large central medallion with smaller geometric floral motifs. The colours of this Abadeh rug are quite typical of most others from the area. The central medallion is bright red with the background being a dark shade of blue.
