This Persian rug has a cotton foundation and a wool pile. It is an above average weave, with 225 knots per square inch.
Sarouk rugs were originally produced within the village of Sarouk situated in the western Iranian province of Arak. The pieces often feature a wide aray of floral motifs, the most common of which is the boteh design. The design in this is quite unique the paisley design has been enlarged and surrounds the central medallion of the piece.
Pistachio green is used as the background colour of this rug. The green is contrasted by the cream coloured boteh motifs and the red border.
