Although weaved just a few years ago, this rug is perfect for anyone looking to add a touch of vintage charm to their rooms. The classical design, and rich autumn colours in this rug perfectly capture the aesthetic of the world’s most renowned antique pieces.
Produced in India using delicately hand spun wool, natural dyes and hand-knotted by highly skilled rug weavers.
The inspiration for design of this piece comes from the traditional Mamluk rug designs originating in North Africa. The rugs are often identified by the large geometric medallion that lays in the centre of each piece. The rest of the pattern emanates out from the centre with smaller geometric floral motifs.
Although most Mamluk rugs are vibrantly coloured; this piece uses only soft blues and greens to make for the pattern which is then laid over a rich, warm burnt orange colouring. The colour palette is therefore similar to some of the more antique Mamluk carpets.
