This Persian rug has a cotton foundation and a wool pile. It is an above average weave, with 225 knots per square inch.
Sarouk rugs were originally produced within the village of Sarouk situated in the western Iranian province of Arak. The pieces often feature a wide aray of floral motifs, the most common of which is the boteh design.
This Sarouk rug has a cream colour background which is contrasted by the peach colour of the inner border and central medallion. Dark pink is used in the border with navy blue being used to add detail the floral motifs found throughout the rug.
