The inspiration of the design of this rug comes from Tabriz, a city in the north west of Iran. The city is famous for creating rugs of all different types of floral patterns that are often full of colour. The all-over floral design found in this rug is the as the Torabe design.
Reds, blues, greens and peach are used to colour the intricate floral motifs, which are placed over a soft cream background. Burnt orange is used as the predominant colour of the border.
