This Persian rug has a cotton foundation and a wool pile. It has a standard 110 knots per square inch.
Heriz rugs are hand-knotted pieces that come from the northwest of Iran and, are famous for their dense, thick piles. The designs of such pieces typically display a large central geometric medallion. This piece however, features a smaller geometric floral shaped medallion that is surrounded by smaller geometric vines and floral motifs.
The colours used in this piece are typical of most other Heriz rugs using a rich red interior and dark blue/purple border with other pinks and blues being used to highlight the design.
